Music therapy across Hastings and Brighton, UK. Rooted in psychodynamic principles, guided by empathy and attunement.
I am an HCPC-registered music therapist, musician, and educator based in Hastings and Brighton. My approach to music therapy blends the depth of psychodynamic training with a commitment to client-centred care. For me, every session begins with empathy, focusing on meeting each individual exactly where they are to provide the most dedicated, effective support I can.
Having gained over a decade of experience supporting both children and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs in various educational and residential settings, I began training as a Music Therapist in 2022 and graduated from Roehampton University with a Master's in 2025. I have experience working with a wide range of clients, from those with profound and multiple learning disabilities, to children and adults managing mental health challenges, learning disabilities and neurodivergence, and older adults living with dementia.
Theory
My training is psychodynamic, which means I pay close attention to the emotional world of the people I work with and the unconscious processes that might be communicated through music. I also incorporate a Rogerian client-centred approach into my practice to create a holistic framework where the therapeutic relationship is the priority.
Group work
Though I primarily facilitate 1:1 sessions, I am a big believer in the power of therapeutic groups and draw on Bion and Foulkes' theories when conducting group work.
Specialism in Music Technology
A core strength of my practice is the integration of assistive music technology. Whether utilising adapted instruments, iPads, or accessible switches, I am dedicated to removing barriers to participation.
I have found that meaningful use of technology does more than support communication; it builds confidence, encourages interaction, and opens doors to expressive, musical engagement for clients with limited or reduced motor functions.
